Thomas (Tomas) Meneses and his family, natives of La Gomera departed Santa Cruz, Tenerife on the Frigate el Sagrado Corazon de Jesus June 25, 1779 destined for Louisiana. The ship was ordered to stop in Havana, Cuba due to war with Great Britain. The family stayed there until August 7, 1783 when they left for Louisiana on the Paquebot La Santisima Trinidad. The family arrived in the settlement of Tierra de Bueyes (St. Bernard) and the Son Antonio received supplies on February 4, 1784.
Based on the pay records Thomas was receiving pay for three children through December 1779, two children through November 1781 and then one child the remaining time in Cuba. One child is listed as died in January 1780.
