Juan Sanchez and  his family departed Santa Cruz, Tenerife on the Frigate San Ignacio de Loyola on October 29, 1778 destined for Louisiana.
The family arrived in the settlement of Galveztown and received supplies on March 27, 1779.

Note: On the supply list there is a notation “Son died on August 26, 1779”. There is a record in the New Orleans Archdiocese (Vol. 3 1772-1783) that a Son was born at sea – Miguel Antonio Josef Son of Juan Sanchez and Francisca Martel, natives of Telde on the Canary Island), b. Dec. 16, 1778, at sea (SLC, B9, 46). This child is not named on the supply list.
