Juan de Torres and his family, natives of Guia on the island of Tenerife departed Santa Cruz, Tenerife on the Frigate Santa Faz on February 17, 1779 destined for Louisiana. The family arrived in the settlement of Tierra de Bueyes (St. Bernard) and received supplies on September 30, 1779.
