Francisco Domingo Zerpa (Serpas) native of Aguimes on the island of Gran Canaria departed Santa Cruz, Tenerife on the Frigate El Sagrado Corazon de Jesus on June 5, 1779 destined for Louisiana. The ship was ordered to stop in Havana, Cuba due to war with Great Britain. The family stayed there until August 7, 1783 when they left for Louisiana on the Paquebot La Santisima Trinidad. The family arrived in the settlement of Tierra de Bueyes (St. Bernard) and received supplies on February 4, 1784.

Francisco received pay for himself, his Mother (Ana) and Brother (Gaspar) while in Cuba.
