Bartolome Cavallero and his family, natives of Aguimes on the island of La Palma departed Santa Cruz, Tenerife on the Paquebot San Juan Nepomuceno December 9, 1778 destined for Louisiana. The family arrived in the settlement of Barataria and received supplies on July 20, 1779. Based on the supply list and Sacramental Records from the Archdiocese of New Orleans the family moved to St. Bernard sometime after 1782.
